On September 21, 2026, the Judicial Yuan and the Taiwan Constitutional Court (TCC) welcomed President Petr Angyalossy and Director Aleš Pavel of the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic. On behalf of the Judicial Yuan and the TCC, the Acting President of the Judicial Yuan and Chief Justice Ming-Yan SHIEH extended a warm welcome to President Angyalossy and Director Pavel. The meeting was also attended by Justice Tsai-Chen TSAI, Justice Fu-Meei JU, Justice Chung-Wu CHEN, Justice Po-Hsiang YU, Director-General Bih-Huey HSU of the TCC, Director-General Ding-Yah WU (Public Information Department, Judicial Yuan), Director-General Shu-Chen KUO (Department of Administrative Litigation and Discipline, Judicial Yuan), Research Judge Ming-Xuan YU (Department of Clerks for the Constitutional Court, Judicial Yuan), and Associate Professor Patrick Chung-Chia HUANG of the National Taiwan University College of Law (interpreter for the meeting). 

    The visit continued the longstanding friendship between the TCC and the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic that began three years earlier, when former Chief Justice Tzong-Li HSU led an official delegation to the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic in June 2023. During that visit, the TCC delegation was warmly received by President Angyalossy and engaged in fruitful discussions on legal issues of mutual interest. 

    Following an exchange of gifts, the participants continued their discussions in the TCC conference room, where Research Judge YU gave a brief presentation on judicial independence, the appointment of Constitutional Court Justices, and gender equality in the judiciary. The participants also engaged in in-depth disucssions on issues such as heavy caseloads, staff shortages in courts, and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in court administration.
